Dr. Steven K. Jacobs is a board-certified neurosurgeon with a unique dual-doctorate background combining medical and scientific expertise. He holds both an M.D. and Ph.D. in Immunology/Experimental Pathology from the State University of New York, Buffalo, positioning him at the forefront of innovative neurosurgical treatment approaches.
He earned his B.A. in Physiology from the University of California, Berkeley (1970-1973), followed by his Ph.D. in Immunology/Experimental Pathology (1973-1976) and M.D. (1976-1980), both from SUNY Buffalo’s School of Medicine. This comprehensive scientific foundation has enabled him to bridge clinical practice with groundbreaking research throughout his career.
He is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in cancer immunotherapy for brain tumors. His research on using Interleukin-2 (IL-2) and lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells to treat malignant gliomas has been published in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Neurosurgery, Cancer Research, and the New England Journal of Medicine. He was invited to present his findings at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Japan Neurosurgical Society in Tokyo, demonstrating his international standing in the field.
