Meet Didier Demesmin, MD, MBA

Didier Demesmin, MD, MBA, is an interventional pain medicine physician who is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine. He is the medical director and founder of the University Pain and Spine Center, with offices throughout New Jersey.

Dr. Demesmin earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he received the prestigious award for Academic Excellence in Anesthesiology. He completed an interventional pain medicine fellowship program at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons/Mount Sinai Morningside in New York City.

Brendan O’Donovan, DO

Dr. Brendan O’Donovan is a board certified Anesthesiologist and fellowship trained interventional pain physician. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures for painful conditions of the cervical/thoracic/lumbar spine, peripheral joints, peripheral nerves and more.

He completed his undergraduate studies at the University at Buffalo. He then went on to graduate from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed an Anesthesiology residency and Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Massachusetts- Baystate Health. Here, Dr. O’Donovan excelled both clinically and academically and scored in the top 10% in the country on his Anesthesiology board exam.

Dr. O’Donovan treats a wide array of conditions including neck pain, lower back pain, sciatica, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, failed back surgical syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, headaches, arthritis, compression fractures and more. He is a compassionate physician and treats all of his patients like his own family. He is active in the medical community and attends pain conferences both locally and nationally. He is an active member of multiple societies including the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, the North American Neuromodulation Society and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Sejal Patel, MS, PA-C

Sejal Patel, MS, PA-C, is a nationally certified physician assistant. She is one of the highly-skilled interventional pain management clinicians on the team at University Pain Medicine Center, with offices throughout New Jersey.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, Sejal completed the physician assistant program at Seton Hall and graduated with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She went on to work at New Jersey Anaesthesia Associates/Saint Barnabas Medical Center as an obstetrics/anesthesia PA. Sejal has been practicing in the field of pain management for over a decade.

Sejal has worked directly with Dr. Demesmin for the past 20 years, seeing patients in the office daily. Not only does Sejal perform routine follow-ups for both her own and Dr. Demesmin’s patients, but she also devises treatment plans to help those they treat receive efficient and effective care.

In addition to her work at University Pain Medicine Center, Sejal has hospital privileges at Robert Wood Johnson and Saint Peter’s University Hospital, where she regularly follows up with patients. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey State Society of Physician Assistants.

Sejal treats every patient with the same care she would provide for a family member who is in pain. She likes to keep her patients informed and involved in their treatment protocols.

Sissey Kurian, MS, PA-C

Sissey Kurian, MS, PA-C is a nationally certified physician assistant whose journey in the field of medicine began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Caldwell University. Continuing her education, Sissey completed the physician assistant program at Wagner College, earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies.
  
With a career spanning nearly a decade, Sissey began her professional journey in 2015, dedicating a year to rheumatology before transitioning to pain management in 2017. Over the years, she has honed her skills and expertise in both New York and New Jersey, providing compassionate care to patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. In this role, she is committed to improving the quality of life for her patients by addressing their pain and supporting their journey to wellness.

She is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, New York State Society of Physician Assistants, and New Jersey State Society of Physician Assistants. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sissey finds fulfillment in giving back to her community through volunteering. She also enjoys traveling to new destinations, immersing herself in a good book, and cherishing moments with her family and friends.
