Jason R. Baynes, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine who is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery.
He earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, which he followed with a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania/3B Sports Medicine.
He is affiliated with some of the most well-respected hospitals in Bergen County, New Jersey. His affiliations include Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Holy Name Hospital, and Health East Medical Center. He previously served as Director of Orthopaedic Education at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, where he also participates on the Perioperative Efficiency Committee and formerly co-chaired the SPPE Committee.
As a dedicated team physician, He serves the Englewood Public Schools district and is the varsity football team physician for Glen Rock High School. His commitment to athletic care extends to his fellowship training, where he worked as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Kixx Major League Indoor Soccer team and West Chester University athletes.
He has presented his research at prestigious medical conferences, including the Eastern Orthopaedic Association meeting, where he won a resident/fellow travel grant for his presentation on objective improvement in external rotation strength following concomitant cyst decompression and SLAP repair. He has also lectured on various orthopaedic topics, including knee solutions for active patients, orthopaedics and diabetes, and double bundle ACL reconstruction.
Beyond his clinical practice, He is deeply committed to community service and education. He serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Bergen County and is a Trustee on the NJIT Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Advisory Boards for both the NJIT Center for Pre-College Programs and Sidra Bell Dance New York, demonstrating his dedication to fostering education and the arts.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of both the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has been recognized by his peers as a “Top Doc” by NJ Monthly in 2011, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
Dr. Baynes treats the full spectrum of orthopaedic conditions with a particular focus on sports-related injuries, including ACL tears, meniscal injuries, rotator cuff pathology, and complex knee and shoulder conditions. He specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures and advanced reconstructive techniques for athletes and active patients. With his extensive training in sports medicine and his commitment to evidence-based care, He helps patients return to their active lifestyles while prioritizing long-term joint health and function.
