The X Stop® is a cutting-edge and minimally invasive surgical procedure designed to provide relief for the painful symptoms of lumbar spinal stenosis. It involves an implant strategically placed to alleviate pressure on spinal nerves and address symptoms related to the condition.
Here at University Pain & Spine Center, we offer X Stop® as a less invasive alternative to other traditional surgical procedures, providing significant relief for our patients in New Jersey without the need for more invasive procedures like a spinal fusion.
The X Stop® device is used in a surgical procedure known as the interspinus process decompression system. It is a small titanium alloy implant that is inserted between the vertebrae of the spine, expanding within a designated area in the lower back to prevent the compression of nerves and provide relief.
The X Stop® surgery is a nonfusion, minimally invasive, and advanced procedure designed to alleviate the painful symptoms associated with lumbar spinal stenosis. This condition causes the narrowing of the spinal canal in the lumbar region of the lower back, compressing nerves and causing distressing symptoms that can often lead to disability in older individuals.
Some of the symptoms related to the condition include:
By expanding the structures of the back of the spine, the device enlarges the area of the spinal canal and makes more room, preventing nerve compression and alleviating the symptoms caused by it.
This procedure, designed to be minimally invasive, also reduces the risks often associated with surgical procedures and preserves the spinal structure.
The X Stop® provides effective symptom relief, targeting the pain, numbness, and mobility issues often caused by lumbar stenosis.
By virtue of its minimally invasive nature, the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, with minimal downtime and quick recovery as main benefits.
